dust to dust, 2006
dust to dust, a series of manipulated photographs, examines the nuances of accepted rituals inherent in functioning within the constructed environment. after returning from living overseas for 2 years, where essential daily activities serve the same function as they do here and yet the implements for their execution are vastly different, i felt overwhelmed with my once familiar lifestyle in the states. conventions of everyday existence, and their seeming absurdities, were again becoming a part of me, and they felt almost as if they were chipping away at my being. dust to dust is a visual expression of these feelings of fading away, characteristic of adapting to a change in circumstance and lifestyle.
