skins, 2009-present
These works deal primarily with the surface of the skin as both a site of identity and a location of social interaction and inscription.

Through this project, I am dealing with the paradoxical functions of the surface of the body as a screen of both separation and connection between the interior and the exterior, between subjective experience and external reality. In some ways, these works attempt to cohere an outward, objective representation of the self with an inner imagined self, a process that is inevitably fraught with anxiety and insecurity. Issues of desire and transformation contend with subtexts of contamination and objectification, as the body/self is described in its utter contingency and instability.

all titles of pieces here are tentative.
